Introduction

These Terms of Certification govern the authentication and registry documentation services provided by Second Chance Authenticators.

Submission of an item for certification constitutes acceptance of these terms and all related policies published on this website.

Purpose of Certification

Certification reflects the findings of an independent inspection conducted at the time of review.

Certification confirms whether the submitted item was determined to be consistent with known manufacturer indicators and structural characteristics.

Certification is not a guarantee of market value, resale performance, or future condition.

Scope of Authentication

Authentication is based on visual inspection, structural evaluation, material assessment, and documented manufacturer indicators available at the time of review.

We do not perform destructive testing, disassembly, or proprietary manufacturer database verification unless publicly accessible.

Findings reflect observable characteristics at the time of examination.

Certification ID & Registry Records

Eligible submissions are assigned a unique and permanent Certification ID.

Certification IDs may not be reassigned.

Registry records reflect inspection findings at the time of certification and do not guarantee future authenticity if the item is altered, modified, or damaged after inspection.

Condition Grading

When included in the selected service tier, condition grades are assigned according to defined structural and cosmetic criteria.

Grading reflects the physical state of the item at the time of inspection only.

Grading does not represent valuation, investment rating, or resale classification.

Independence & Impartiality

Second Chance Authenticators operates as an independent third-party certification authority.

We do not buy, sell, broker, consign, or appraise eyewear.

Submission source, seller identity, ownership status, or dealer participation does not influence certification outcomes.

Shipping & Risk Allocation

Clients are responsible for all inbound shipping costs and insurance when sending items for certification.

We are not liable for loss or damage occurring during transit to our facility.

Return shipping fees are invoiced separately and must be paid prior to dispatch.

Transit time is separate from processing time.

Processing Time

Published turnaround times are estimates and not guarantees.

Processing time begins once the item is physically received and logged into intake.

Transit time is not included in processing estimates.

Limitation of Liability

Certification reflects inspection findings based on visible and accessible indicators.

We do not guarantee detection of every counterfeit technique.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability, if any, is limited to the service fee paid for certification.

This protects your exposure.

Post-Certification Alteration

Certification applies only to the condition and authenticity of the item at the time of inspection.

Any modification, repair, alteration, or damage occurring after certification may void the original findings.

Revocation of Certification

Certification may be revoked if material misrepresentation, fraudulent submission, or undisclosed alteration is discovered.

Revoked certifications will be marked accordingly in the registry.

Review Requests

Requests for review must be submitted in writing and include the Certification ID and supporting documentation.

We reserve the right to reassess items under established internal standards.

Submission of an item for certification constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of these Terms of Certification.
